In steel tip darts, the " 501 Double Out " mode is the most well-known. The many major PDC tournaments alone are a great way for newcomers to get a taste of the game. There are many other darts games that can be played on the dartboard. We'd like to introduce you to some of them. Ultimately, some of them are also a good alternative to simply throwing down 501 points in daily practice. At the end of the article, we've provided a link where you can find all the templates, including instructions, for the following darts games, so you can try them out right at home.
Darts Games – Minigame 1: Cricket
Cricket is the darts mini-game that, alongside the typical scoring game, is most commonly played by amateur players. The only decisive factors are the spaces from the 15th to the bullseye . The goal is to score as many points as possible to ultimately emerge victorious. Each hit in a single segment counts as one point, a double scores twice, and a triple scores three times.
Before you can score, however, you must hit the corresponding number, for example, 20, three times. Only after the third hit does the next hit on the 20 count as 20 points. You can now keep scoring on the 20 until your opponent has also hit the 20 three times. As soon as both players hit the field three times, it is considered "closed, " and you can no longer score points from that segment. You then work your way through the other fields, trying to collect as many points as possible from the relevant fields.
Important: There is no prescribed order, every hit is written down!
How to win the game
The game is only over when the highest-scoring player hits all the squares from the 15 to the bullseye three times. Ultimately, cricket is about imposing your own game on your opponent. If Player 1 hits 20 four times with his first darts, he receives his first 20 points with the fourth hit. Tactically clever, Player 2 would not follow on the 20, but rather build pressure on the 19.
If Player 2 hits the 19 five times with three darts (for example, two singles and one treble), he is awarded 38 points. Even a player who doesn't have a strong 20 can win the match with the right tactics. Ultimately, the important thing is to build pressure using your own strong darts.
Extension : "Tac Tics" is becoming increasingly common. This game simply expands the standard cricket game to include the fields from 10 to 14.
Minigame 2: Halving
Halving is also about having the most points at the end of the darts game. Players must hit a specific segment in a predetermined order to be awarded the corresponding points . If a player misses this segment, their previous score is halved. The order could be, for example, as follows:
First, players score across all segments of the 20th. Then, across all segments of the 19th. In the third round, any triple on the board must be hit, otherwise the player's score is halved. While the large numbers often pose no obstacle, as the game progresses, players are required to hit a double , a red , or a green field. These throws, in particular, often determine victory or defeat. The fallout for players with high scores is, of course, extremely high when their score is halved upon failure.
Minigame 3: Double Training with Connect Four
Darts Games Next: With the mini-game " Connect Four, " you'll practice your skills on the doubles. The goal of this game is to get four doubles in a row as quickly as possible. The graphic looks like this:
You can claim four fields vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. Depending on how you play, you can change the rules as you wish. Only the single bull counts in this game. Otherwise, all other fields represent a double. There is, however, a special rule . You may only throw at the single bull , which is shown in the corners, if another double field in that row or column has already been hit . The double bull in the middle can be targeted at any time. If, at the end, no player manages to claim four fields next to each other, one below the other, or diagonally, the player who first captures 13 of the 25 fields wins.
Minigame 4: Siege
Next comes the most exciting of the five darts games. In the game " Siege, " the goal is to conquer and, so to speak, lay siege to as many cities as possible. With three darts, the player gets the chance to hit three predetermined fields. If they succeed, they can call that city their own. If they fail, the next player gets the chance to conquer that city. For example, it's possible to play 20 cities with three fields each, since the dartboard has 60 different fields in each segment. An example for visualization:
The player who conquers the most cities at the end wins the game. For beginners , an easier version is recommended, where you only throw at double and single fields , for example. At www.mydartpfeil.com/downloads, you'll find variations for different difficulty levels of the darts game.
Minigame 5: Yahtzee on the Dartboard
A particularly varied game is Yahtzee on the dartboard. The rules are essentially the same as the well-known Yahtzee . Only the board looks a little different:
You can also find these special Yahtzee sheets at www.mydartpfeil.com/downloads .
While you count the points normally up to a total of 1 , now a brief explanation of the special fields starting with the pair. A pair is achieved by hitting two points in one field or a double point . 3 of a kind is achieved by hitting three points in one segment, e.g. one point each in the single field and the double field. Up to the streets, the further procedure is self-explanatory. The small street is possible with three arrows between 1-10 . The large street, on the other hand, is possible between 11-20 . In Yahtzee, logically, five hits with three arrows must be achieved in one segment. Then you get 100 points . You don't necessarily score over 20.
